The Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment Society is organizing 'Ladies night Out' for Calgary Women on May 28, 2010 starting 6pm at The Calgary Italian Club.
With proceeds benefiting the Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment Centre at the Foothills Medical Centre, this exciting evening for the ladies will feature cocktails, appetizers and a delicious meal served by Firefighters. There will also be door prizes, bucket raffles, musical entertainment and the chance to bid in silent and live auctions. Calgary Fire Department trucks, both new and antique, will make an appearance and the evening would not be complete without the participation of the "Hotstuff" calendar guys.

The goal of Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment society is to raise funds and awareness to support burn victims throughout Calgary and southern Alberta. The money raised is donated to the Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment Centre at Foothills Medical Centre. The centre provides treatment and therapy for burn victims as well as those who suffer from frostbite, hypothermia and other skin-loss injuries.

Camp Bonaventure is the only outdoor summer day camp in Calgary focusing on youth and teens up to 17 years old with or without disabilities and it is hosted by one of Calgary's local organization called 'Between Friends Club.' Camp Bonaventure runs during the summer months, beginning the first full week in July and continuing for 8 consecutive weeks. The Participants at Camp Bonaventure can make new friends, gain valuable life experiences and develop self-confidence by challenging their own limits.
You can contribute for Camp Bonaventure by participating in the 17th Annual Skate, Walk or Wheel a-Kid-to-Camp event on March 13th,2010 from 2-5 p.m. at the Olympic Oval. This is Between Friends Club's biggest fundraiser for Camp Bonaventure. Proceeds from this event will help approximately 600 youth experience summer camp.

An evening of Vehicles and Violins- Gala 2010 is a live auction event to be held in Calgary on Tuesday, March 9th, 2010 at BMO Centre and Corral, Stampede Park from 5.30 pm to 10.00 pm. This year's 11th annual gala show which is being organized by the Calgary Motor Dealers Association (CMDA) will support the Alberta Cancer Foundation and The ALS Society of Alberta. Since its inception in the year 2000, the Vehicles and Violins Gala has raised almost $2,000,000 for charity.
At this event, the guests will be able to take part in silent auction, enjoy music by musicians from the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, try delectable international cuisine and get a preview of the 2010 Calgary International Auto and Truck show which will run from March10-14th, 2010. Legacies 2010: Where Are You Going? is an 18+ event which will showcase Canadian talent and celebrate black history on February 27 and 28 at Calgary Chinese Multicultural Centre (located on 197, 1st St. SW). This year's performances will include spoken word poetry, gospel, blues and reggae music, African and Caribbean dance, comedy, art and so much more.
The tickets for the show are priced at $30/person in advance and $35 at the door. The doors will open at 7.00 pm and the show will start at 8.00 pm. Legacies 2010 is being hosted by Collectively Eclectic for the 3rd year in a row in celebration of Black History Month.

I have some good news for Calgary Film Junkies! 2nd Annual Show Us Your Shorts - A Festival of Short Films will run in Calgary from March 25th to March 27th 2010. The festival will start with the Opening Gala at The Plaza Theatre featuring famed shorts artist and animator Emily Hubley's Alberta Premiere of her debut feature film, The Toe Tactic with music by Yo La Tengo. This will screen along with the 2009 Ultra Short Film Festival, films under 30 seconds long, giving guests a chance to see new size category of movies: x-small (less than one min.)
The other events of this festival include: the Golden Shorts, Screenwriting Competition and Closing Gala party. EMMEDIA will provide expert workshops and will host Showcase Screening on Friday March 26th. Some of the events are free whereas the tickets for the others are priced from $7-$8/person and will be available at the door.

L'Arche Calgary is part of the International Federation of L'Arche, founded in 1964 by Jean Vanier in response to the need of people with developmental disabilities to find a valid place in society and it is hosting a family friendly Cake Walk in Calgary on Sunday, March 14, 2010, from noon to 3:30 p.m at SAIT campus (located 1301, 16th Avenue NW)
The L'Arche Calgary Cake Walk is a display of cake and chocolate creation competition (held in association with the Pastry Chef Guild of Alberta) at its finest. Top culinary chefs and novices compete to see who can create the most fantastic cake. The first L'Arche Calgary Cake was held in 2007 and is now an annual event, which draws 1,500 visitors annually and has netted over $300,000 for L'Arche Calgary's homes and programs for people with developmental disabilities.
The tickets for the L'arche Calgary are only $5/person and guests can take part in various Children's games, cup cakes decorating, enjoy live music, enter in the draw to win fabulous prizes like stay at Kannaskis Delta and tickets to Calgary Hitmen hockey games etc and vote for their favourite cake or chocolate creation.Ofcourse, all attenddes will get slice of delectable, professionally baked cake and a cup of coffee. .
