Calgary Stampede 2009- Top 5 free attractions not to be missed

Calgary Stampede 2009 will kickstart tomorrow with Stampede Parade. With so much going on, things can become overwhelming for the first time visitors. However, if you want to take part in free events and activities then check out the list below to learn about Calgary Stampede Attractions in Downtown Calgary which are not to be missed:

FLUOR ROPE SQUARE: The action starts at Fluor Rope Square (Olympic Plaza) which is on the corner of 7th Avenue and MacLeod Trail SE across from City Hall. There will be live three and half hours of entertainment everyday on July 4th (Saturday) and July 6-11th 2009 (Monday- Saturday) each day from 9.00 am to 12.30 pm. If you get a chance do enter the Fluor Daily Prize draw.
FREE PANCAKE BREAKFAST: You've not experienced real western hospitality if you haven't tried free pancake Breakfast in Calgary during Calgary Stampede.You can get your free pancake breakfast hot off the griddle from the back of a chuckwagon or Smokie at Fluor Rope Square from 8:15 am – 10:30 AM each morning starting July 6-11th and on July 4th.
CARRIAGE RIDES: If you are an early bird, you can definitely tour downtown Calgary in a horse drawn old time rig. Unfortunately, you cannot buy tickets for these old rig rides anywhere but only get them for free. A limited number of free tickets are distributed to passengers each day on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 8:30 AM. The tour starts at 10.00 am and takes approximately one hour.
FREE DANCING: Do you love to dance or would you like to dance during Calgary stampede? Well, you can join Downtown attractions volunteers from 10.00 am to noon on Stephen Avenue Walk, between 1st St SW and Centre Street, near the Winner's store and shake a leg.
FRIENDSHIP DANCE: One of the most interesting event out of these fun filled activities is friendship dance by members of the five tribes of Treaty 7 from Southern Alberta. People from these tribes dress up in traditional regalia and share their rich heritage with the residents and visitors during Calgary Stampede. They entertain the audience with their dance and music.
