Mike Holmes, host of HGTV show Holmes on Homes, wants to build his first Holmes Homes development in Okotoks, Alberta, south of Calgary
This week, Holmes held an open forum with members of the Okotoks community. All Holmes Homes are sustainable in design, with green building features including a high-performance building envelope, living roofs, grey-water recapture systems, solar assist domestic hot water pre-heat and radiant floor heating.
The homes are being designed and developed by The Holmes Group in partnership with Oko Properties and acting design consultants Baird Sampson Neuert.
"I love Okotoks and hope we will be able to build the first Holmes Homes development here," says Holmes. If the project proceeds, the first Holmes Homes will be offered for sale in Spring of 2009.

i think this is the best way to show people it is not about size and who has the most money and more about what we as a community can help to preserve the environment for future generations to enjoy and even be able to further applications builders use to maximize how much impact we have on our surroundings.on a side note if you need a stone veneer installer that follows proper installations not embedding i'm your man and guarantee my work 100%
I keep hearing that the first house would be available in spring of 2009... never mentioned when cdonstruction would start. would like to trade work for experience on the project. pls reply @ yannbelisle@hotmail.com. thank you.
Hi mike you do a great job of going to different places that need help, the first nations reserve in winnipeg that had the fire needs homes built that people there work on and own themselves.thank-you.
Hi Mr. Holmes, my name is Harvey, I don't know how else to get a message to you.
My sister has been going through a very stressful year. In April 2008 our father past away, May 2008 our younger brother past away. Her home was destroyed by fire from a lightning strike in August 2008. Her and her husband lost everything in that fire. The insurance company is giving them a very difficult time. They managed to find a place to rent temporarly. While there their 2 stallions died from bad hay, another horse was later killed when it got loose and was hit by a truck. Then her husband was killed in a motor vechile accident May 2009 and now
she was informed that the home she is leasing is now in foreclosure. The insurance company has been most uncooperative. Talked to her today and she said the house was broken into and several items were stolen. She said she just can't handle anymore. There is less than 90 days to get the new house built or she loses all the insurance money, and it is not even started yet. Her husband's estate is going to probate because the will was destroyed in the fire. She is in a very desperate
state, please help if you possibly can.
Please advise asap if possible. Thank you for anything you might be able to do.
Interested in this Okotoks development, when will we here more about it.
Tuesday, December 15th, 2009. We lived in Okotoks, Alberta and still have family there. We now live in Georgetown, Ontario for 16 years. My son will be applying to the trade schools for September, 2010. Humber and Waterloo are his first choices - wish him luck! We love the Holmes on Homes show and the Holmes Inspections show. Keep Up The Great Work From Ontario to Alberta!!
Doesn't this development just add to unwelcome urban sprawl in a small community?
Hello mike I watch your show alot and I love they way you help people out of a big mess. You and your team do a perfect job. I'm from st. Louis mo me and my wife have been staying in our home for 3 years now and we've hired two contractors and they didn't do a good job. I've tried to do it myself but I really don't know how and don't have the time with me being a kindergarten teacher. We also have two little girls that take up or time too so if you and your team could please help us out with our dream home that will be a blessing.
Hi Mike
My name is Michelle Clutton, I was the one at the meeting about Windwalker in
Okotoks for the Town of Okotoks & the
MD of Foothills & all of your people were there. I was the only one that got up to talk & tell them how I feel it is GREAT for Okotoks to have you choose Okotoks for your project, Windwalker!!
I LOVE WINDWALKER!!! I can not wait for your project to start being built!!!
How is that going now I have not seen anything about it in our paper??
On your website, it says that they are already up for sale, is this correct??
Please advise who I contact about buying one of the first condos built??
I hope they are not all sold yet??
Thank You So Much For Picking Okotoks
For This Wonderful, Great Project!!!!
Michelle Clutton
Just wondering how things are coming along on the wind walk project? I can not seem to find a straight answer in any thing that I look up in GOOGLE! If there is a link or Info regarding the that project could you send it to me?
Thanx and good luck!
Hello mike,
I watch your show regularly, and I love how you help people with difficult situations. That’s one of the nicest good deeds someone can for another person. I am a disabled marine and I have hired several contractors and it seems nothing has gone right since I have moved into this house. I had one crew replace my floors and now the floor seems to be uneven and coming up. Another crew did my kitchen, and master bath - zero of my doors close now. I had my windows replaced last summer, and my electric bill during last summer went from $80-90 to $215. I've done all that I could.
I need your help in the most possible way. Please help fix someone else's screw. Thank you.

I am from Okotoks and the problems that town council have are very ligitimate ones.
We are sustainably responsible and just want to have adequate proof that this development is not going to put strain on our limited resources.
As for making sure pedestrians are safe--do we not all want to make sure that we have safe places for children and adults alike?
All we` require is a little proof that some fore thought and planning have been done. That really is not too much
to ask for.
A majority of us have moved to this town because it is inovative and planning has been put into trying to keep it sustainable and we want to keep it that way!
